The Executive Chairman of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu, has directed all the smart schools contractors in Uzo-Uwani to, as a matter of urgency, hand over project keys next Monday, noting that all smart schools in Uzo-Uwani will be onboarded on this January School resumption.

The Council Chairman issued this directive on January 6, 2025, during an emergency meeting with all contractors, where he paid them the final contract balance as approved by Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

The Chairman, however, condemned the unjustifiable delay and inability of the contractors handling the smart schools at Umulokpa, Nimbo Ward 1, Nrobo and Ukpata, to ensure timely delivery of the projects, warning that he would not tolerate further delays as these schools are starting January 16th, 2026.

He further stated that any contractor who defaults on the one-week ultimatum will be arrested and will refund all monies paid into their various account for the purpose of completing the projects.

Barr Ezugwu directed that all the smart schools’ fencing contracts be awarded to the contractors for completion, tasking them to maintain standards and timely delivery.

The smart schools’ fencing projects in Ojjor, Akpugo, Uvuru and Adaba/Nkume will be completed by Mositex Services Nig, under Hon.Vitalis Okonkwo.

Ugbene Ward 1 & 2 will be handled by Praise and Behold under Hon. Cosmas Otaba, while Nkpologu Ward will be completed by Optimal Construction Services.
