Ikpeme deepens security collaboration with NSCDC during courtesy visit in Calabar

The Provost of the College of Health, Dr. Ita Ikpeme, has taken steps to strengthen security cooperation following a courtesy visit to the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River State Command, CC Okarazu Chima Eke, in Calabar.

The visit, aimed at enhancing security around the College of Health and its host communities, underscores the Provost’s focus on institutional safety, stability, and community development. Dr. Ikpeme noted that a secure environment is essential for effective teaching, learning, and research, stressing that educational institutions can only thrive where peace and safety are assured.

During the meeting, Dr. Ikpeme commended the NSCDC for its role in protecting lives and critical infrastructure across Cross River State. He described the Corps as a reliable partner in nation-building and reaffirmed the College’s willingness to deepen collaboration with the NSCDC in areas such as campus security, emergency response, student safety, and community engagement.

Responding, Commandant CC Okarazu Chima Eke praised the Provost for his proactive approach and leadership, noting that the visit reflected an appreciation of the link between education and security. He assured the College of Health of the NSCDC’s support in ensuring a safe and conducive environment for academic activities and professional training.
