Bayo Onanuga
President Bola Tinubu’s former campaign spokesman in the south east, Dr. Josef Onoh has said that the National Honour bestowed on the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Chief Bayo Onanuga, was a resounding testament to his remarkable contributions to the advancement of democracy, good governance, and the enduring quest for justice in Nigeria.
Onoh said that Onanuga has unwavering dedication to the cause of democracy through his career as a seasoned journalist, media icon, and ardent advocate for truth and accountability that has left indelible mark on Nigeria’s democratic journey.
Onanuga was among other Nigerians such as the Vanguard publisher, Sam Amuka, who were conferment with National Honours, with President Tinubu awarding the prestigious Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) on his Adviser, Onanuga.
Onoh remarked that Onanuga through his fearless reportage, insightful editorials, and unrelenting commitment to amplifying the voice of the people, played a pivotal role in the struggle against oppression and the restoration of democratic rule in Nigeria.
He further noted that Onanuga’s contributions, particularly during the dark days of military dictatorship, stand as a beacon of courage and resilience, inspiring generations of Nigerians to uphold the values of freedom and equity.
“As the founder of ‘The News magazine’ and a trailblazer in investigative journalism, you have consistently championed transparency and held power to accountability, shaping the narrative of a Nigeria where truth prevails. Your work has not only informed but also empowered citizens to demand better leadership and governance.
“This conferment is a fitting recognition of your sacrifices, tenacity, and profound impact on the nation’s democratic landscape. Your legacy as a defender of democracy and a pillar of the Fourth Estate is unassailable. This honor is not just a personal triumph but a celebration of the collective aspirations of Nigerians who continue to draw inspiration from your exemplary life of service,” Onoh eulogized.
He prayed God to give Onanuga the strength to continue his noble work, guiding Nigeria towards a future of unity, progress, and justice.
