A pressure group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Fix PDP, Fix Nigeria, has commended the party’s governors and prominent stakeholders for their unwavering commitment to repositioning and strengthening the PDP.

In a statement issued on Friday, Mr. Tunde Shola, a member of the group from Lagos State, lauded the recent steps taken by the PDP governors, particularly their resolution regarding the long-standing dispute over the office of the National Secretary.

Shola noted that the governors’ recommendation to appoint the Deputy National Secretary (South) as the substantive National Secretary represents a decisive move toward resolving internal conflicts that have plagued the party, especially in light of the recent Supreme Court ruling on the matter.

“We are particularly pleased with our governors’ decision to settle the lingering issue of the National Secretary position. Their recommendation should help refocus the party and prepare it for the road to 2027,” Shola said.

He further praised notable party figures such as former Governors Sule Lamido, Seriake Dickson, and Chief Bode George for their enduring commitment to the PDP’s ideals and future.

“The dedication of these elder statesmen shows that the PDP remains strong and cannot be written off,” he added.

The group also expressed admiration for Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, citing their leadership within the PDP Governors’ Forum and their efforts to reposition the party both nationally and regionally.

“Governor Bala Mohammed has shown tremendous leadership in uniting his fellow governors and addressing national issues with courage. We stand firmly with him,” the statement read.

“Governor Makinde, by hosting the PDP Governors’ Forum in Ibadan and revitalizing the party in the South-West, has established the PDP as the most viable political platform for forward-thinking leaders in the region. We commend his efforts.”

The group reaffirmed its support for all leaders working to unite and strengthen the PDP as it looks ahead to the 2027 general elections.
