Jos – The Personal Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Constituency Affairs, Khadijat Omotayo, has charged citizens of Plateau State to ask questions from their representatives so that they can be clarified on the policies and programmes of the federal government aimed at enhancing the lives of citizens.

Omotayo spoke in Jos at the weekend during a town hall meeting organized for critical stakeholders in Plateau State to point out the challenges they are facing in their constituencies and identify the likely solutions to them.

While acknowledging the resilience of the citizens, she assured of President Tinubu’s commitment to implementing initiatives that will improve lives of the people of Plateau State, explaining that he is working to upgrade the State’s infrastructure, including roads, bridges, public buildings, and others.

She also noted the Federal Government’s efforts in supporting small business enterprises, entrepreneurship, and farmers to create job opportunities and stimulate economic growth and stated, “Mister President is committed to improving access to quality education and healthcare services. We will work tirelessly to ensure that the State reaches its full potential as you are availed with federal urban projects in your domain.”

The Personal Assistant tasked youths to take advantage of the student loan scheme to fund their educational pursuit and added, “We are not running a partisan government, we are not running a government of religion, but we are running a government that includes every citizen of Nigeria. Let’s come together to build a Nigeria that works for all Nigerians.

“Be rest assured that whatever empowerment that is coming to the States through my office, you will all be carried along. Please, we need to start asking our representatives questions, not tackling Mr. President. Let’s ask them questions. Mister President wants to bring back that renewed hope to Nigerians.”

Earlier, stakeholders including the Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, the Plateau Initiative for Development and Advancement of Natives, PIDAN, the Plateau Youths Council, the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Nigerian Women in Agriculture Progressive Development Initiative, Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, and others submitted their respective challenges at the meeting.

The traditional rulers represented by the Sum Pyem, Da Charles Mato, PIDAN through Da Gyang Dudu, and others, unanimously called for the rehabilitation of federal roads in the State, ending insecurity, constitutional roles for traditional rulers, empowering women and youths in agriculture, revamping federal institutions in the State, and undertaking only projects that reflect the needs of the people.
