Some political leaders in the North Central geo-political zone on Wednesday called on mischief makers in the country to find more constructive things to do rather than spending time and resources on maligning the Acting National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Umar Damagum, who is trying to do his best for the party.

The leaders also frowned at the use of blackmail by selfish politicians, saying it only promotes crisis in the opposition party.

At a gathering in Abuja, the leaders applauded Damagum for the dignity, diligence, and dedication he has demonstrated in his duties as National Chairman.

‘’Alhaji Umar Damagum is a pride to this great nation. He has diligently applied himself to restructuring and repositioning the party for greater performance’’.

In a statement read to reporters by Chief Clement Onalo on behalf of PDP Patriots in Abuja, the leaders said a new dimension of intolerance, immaturity, and unreasonable posturing has been introduced into the party.

‘’Alhaji Umar Damagum is certainly not a mole in PDP. Therefore, the allegation of serving tea is totally false and only a calculated attempt to unleash mischief on the hard-earned integrity of the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Umar Damagum’’

The North Central leaders appealed to PDP stakeholders in the country to avoid any action capable of destabilizing the party.

‘’The PDP Patriots are solidly behind Alhaji Umar Damagum. We are very proud of him. He has given good account of himself in politics and public life’’.

They also advised PDP governors to be vigilant and not be swayed by those asking them to rally two-thirds of members of the National Executive Committee to convene a meeting.
