The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has expressed strong support for the management of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN), led by Executive Director Dr. Patrick Adebola.

The endorsement came during a solidarity visit to CRIN, headed by the Clerk of the Senate, Oladimeji Uthman, as part of the 86th National Senate Sitting held in Lagos.

During the visit, NANS passed a vote of confidence in Dr. Adebola, commending his integrity, commitment to transparency, and alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

“Dr. Patrick Olu Adebola has become synonymous with integrity and professionalism in public service, steering CRIN to new heights in cocoa research, agricultural innovation, and sectoral development.”

“His administration has prioritised openness and accountability, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to utilising public resources effectively for projects that benefit Nigeria’s agricultural sector,” Uthman said.

NANS noted Dr. Adebola’s willingness to engage stakeholders and welcome constructive criticism, ensuring that CRIN remains a beacon of excellence among agricultural research institutions in Nigeria.

“His transparent practices resonate with our advocacy for public officials who prioritise accountability for the use of public goods,” Uthman added.

The students’ body emphasised that Dr. Adebola’s leadership aligns closely with President Tinubu’s vision for governance reforms, accountability, and sustainable national development.

“Through fostering partnerships, initiating impactful projects, and maintaining a culture of transparency, Dr. Adebola has shown a strong commitment to advancing Nigeria’s cocoa and agricultural sectors.”

“His notable achievements include the successful implementation of community-driven research initiatives, capacity-building programs for farmers, and strategic collaborations that enhance Nigeria’s competitive edge in the global cocoa market.”

“These efforts exemplify the forward-thinking leadership that the Renewed Hope agenda aims to institutionalise across all sectors.”

“On behalf of the entire Nigerian student body, we are passing this vote of confidence on the CRIN leadership. No amount of mischief or conspiracy will deter Dr. Patrick from achieving his goals,” Uthman declared.

NANS commended Dr. Adebola for his impressive commitment to the research and development of cocoa, kola, coffee, cashew, and tea, adding that the results achieved under his leadership testify to the expertise and dedication of his team, making a tangible difference in the agricultural sector.

The association urged stakeholders to support the remarkable progress made under Dr. Adebola’s leadership, rather than engaging in baseless allegations.

NANS emphasised that fostering development requires constructive dialogue and collaborative efforts, especially as the country works to rebuild critical economic sectors.

“Dr. Adebola’s open-door policy has ensured that concerns and feedback are addressed promptly, further enhancing his reputation as an accessible, accountable, and responsive leader.”

Uthman encouraged other public officials to emulate these qualities to bridge gaps between leadership and the public.
