African Music Business Roundtable 2025: Shaping the future of the showbiz industry

By Benjamin Njoku

The African music industry is on the cusp of a revolution, with Afrobeats and other genres dominating the global music market.

Despite the challenges faced by the industry, African artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido are still headlining stadiums and winning awards worldwide. To further propel the industry’s growth, the African Music Business Roundtable 2025 is set to take place in the second quarter of 2025.

The two-day event aims to develop practical solutions to critical challenges in the African music ecosystem. It will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, creatives, academics, and international stakeholders, who will chart a new direction for the industry. According to the organizers, the roundtable will focus on promoting collaboration, innovation, and growth in the African music industry

Unveiling the project to the press in Lagos, days back, Co-Founder and team lead Michael Odiong stated that “This roundtable is not a talk shop. It is a call to action for all stakeholders to come together, deliberate, and leave with clear strategies that will shape the future of African music.”

Also, speaking in the same vein, Dr. Chinedu Chukwuji, Co-founder/ Executive Director said “The roundtable’s primary goal is to move beyond mere discussions and develop actionable plans for addressing the challenges and opportunities in the African music industry. Outcomes will include: A detailed roadmap for implementing solutions and white papers and research findings based on recorded discussions.”
