Why I changed my name from Aniitablonde – Artist, Nitaablonde

Edo State-born singer-songwriter Nitaablonde, formerly known as Aniitablonde, has officially changed her stage name. In a recent Instagram live session, she explained the reason behind the change, saying, “I felt it was time for a new chapter. The name Aniitablonde no longer reflected who I am today, both personally and professionally.”

The name change has been applied across her social media platforms and major music streaming services, including Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube.

To mark her birthday, Nitaablonde released a new single titled ‘My Birthday Song,’ which she describes as “a fun, celebratory track that reflects where I am right now—grateful, excited, and ready for the future.” Since adopting her new stage name, Nitaablonde has been making waves in the music industry, sharing the stage with big names like Davido and captivating audiences with her energetic performances.

“I’m really proud of how far I’ve come,” she added. “Sharing the stage with someone like Davido is a dream come true, and I’m just getting started.”

Born Anita Osikweme Osikhena, Nitaablonde also recently released a two-part EP titled ‘Godzilla/Master,’ which she says is “all about empowerment and owning your strength.” The project has cemented her status as a rising force in the Afro-Fusion scene, known for blending pop, hip-hop, dancehall, and Afrobeats in hits like ‘Toxic’ and ‘Like This.’

In addition to her music career, Nitaablonde is an advocate for girl child education and women’s empowerment. She placed 3rd runner-up in the Miss Nigeria pageant’s 43rd edition, and through her initiative “Guard Her,” she aims to raise awareness about the importance of education for young girls. “It’s a cause that’s close to my heart,” she said. “I want to inspire young girls to believe in themselves and reach their full potential.”

Beyond music, Nitaablonde has also made her mark in acting, with a role in the Nollywood film ‘The Island.’ She has further expanded her presence internationally by serving as a model host at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Speaking on her recent single ‘Godzilla,’ she stated, “It’s a bold track that pushes boundaries—just like me. I’m not afraid to take risks, whether in music or life.”
