Otubela stated, “Today, we are not just celebrating our children; we are acknowledging their potential to shape a better world, one that values empathy, sustainability, and creative expression.”

“This year’s theme, “Global citizenship: Inspiring students to think globally and act locally by creating art that reflects their understanding of global issues,” states that it resonates profoundly with the mission of NAPPS and the future envisioned for young minds.

Emphasizing the role of educators, parents, and leaders in cultivating global awareness and responsibility in children, Chief Otubela stressed, “We must inspire them to see beyond their immediate surroundings and understand the broader context of their actions and decisions.”

The National President emphasized the practical necessity of global citizenship in the modern world, stating, “As global citizens, our students learn to appreciate the diversity of cultures, understand global issues such as climate change, inequality, and human rights, and take proactive steps to contribute positively to society.”

Otubela underscored the power of art as a medium for students to express their understanding of global issues, stating, “Art is a powerful medium through which students can convey messages that inspire change and foster a deeper understanding of the world.”

He called for the integration of global citizenship education into school curricula, emphasizing its importance as a core component of teaching. Chief Otubela also reiterated NAPPS Nigeria’s commitment to supporting schools in effectively integrating global citizenship and art into their classrooms.

In conclusion, he called upon stakeholders, educators, parents, policymakers, and the wider community to join hands in nurturing the potential of children and inspiring them to think globally and act locally using their creativity to make a difference.

The National President’s address concluded with a heartfelt message to the children, “To our dear students, you are the future of our nation and the world. Your ideas, your creativity, and your actions matter. I encourage you to embrace your role as global citizens.”

The address was met with positive responses from educators and stakeholders, with many expressing support for the integration of global citizenship and art in education. Happy Children’s Day wishes were extended to all children, accompanied by blessings for their future.
