Ahead of the September 21, 2024 Edo State Governorship Election, the Senator Monday Okpebholo for Governor Support Group, UK and Ireland, has been inaugurated in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

Recall that Okpebholo, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, won the keenly re-run contested governorship primaries in February after the first exercise was declared inconclusive by the APC National Working Committee.

The Chairman of the UK and Ireland Support Group is Chief Abraham Jimawo, a former Executive Director of the Edo State Rapid Response Agency.

Inaugurating the group, former Minority Whip, Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ezehi MD Igbas charged Chief Jimawo to use his immense political experience and a wide range of local and international connections to mobilize support for Sen. Monday Okpebholo and his running mate Rt Hon. Denise Idahosa across the whole of the UK and Ireland to ensure victory for APC in the 21 September 2024 Edo State Governorship election.

He expressed confidence in the ability of Jimawo to pull the necessary strings in favour of APC and its candidate, given his antecedents as a vastly experienced politician and highly successful businessman.

“You have all it takes to make a huge success of this assignment and with your connections both at home and abroad, there is no doubt that you will work tirelessly to ensure victory for our candidate, Sen Monday Okpebholo,” Hon Igbas said.

In his acceptance speech, Chief Jimawo promised to use all available resources, both politically and otherwise within his disposal to mobilize support for Sen. Okpebholo and Rt. Hon Idahosa across the whole of the United Kingdom & Ireland as well as the whole of Edo State.

“We are committed to this project and we shall spare no effort to deliver on our mandate. We shall take this task seriously and by the grace of God, the Peoples Democratic Party will be sent packing from the Edo State Government House in the next few months,” Chief Jimawo assured.
