Peace must return to Nawfia, new PG vows

THE newly elected President General of Nawfia Community in Njikoka local government area of Anambra State, Chief Ifeanyichukwu Nkemka has vowed to restore peace in the town after a communal crisis that lasted for many years.

Addressing the people after his emergence, the new PG commended Nawfia community for the confidence reposed in him, assuring that he would not disappoint them.

Promising to carry everybody in the community along, Nkemka acknowledged that there had been rancour in Nawfia over the years, promising that all the people’s grievances would be addressed by the new leadership.

According to him, the new leadership has mapped out a programme for the development of the community and urged the people to give the leaders the necessary support to enable them to deliver.

He said: ” With what we have in our manifesto, peace must return in Nawfia, which in the past, was only associated with peace. We must, therefore, put the ugly past behind us.

“I am grateful to our people for conducting themselves peacefully during the election and making me their PG.

” In every contest, there must be opposition and those who opposed the election exercised their right, especially when they saw that they did not have any chance to win.

“Because we are a law-abiding community, nobody was molested and the election took place smoothly”.

Two aspirants stepped down for Nkemka in an election that witnessed heavy presence of security personnel, including the army and the police.

Those elected along with Nkemka are Chief Ifeanyi Okoye, vice president general, Comrade Tony Obiesili- secretary general, Ebubechukwu Okagbue – assistant secretary general, Chief Alex Okoye – financial secretary, Obinna Okpalo – treasurer, Gab Obineme – publicity secretary, Ejike Okeke – welfare secretary and Mr Paul Diobu – provost.
