A UK-based Nigerian traveler, Pelumi Nubi is set for a solo road trip from London to Lagos, Nigeria.
Pelumi Nubi, a travel content creator who has already visited 80 countries, announced her latest attempt via her Instagram page.
According to Nubi, she is taking on this challenge to encourage other female solo travellers, particularly black women, and to challenge preconceived notions about what’s possible.
How the trip will work?
She plans to travel across 17 countries in two months, visiting every city and landscape along the way. Her voyage takes her from England via France, Spain, Morocco, and over the vast West Sahara Desert. From there, she’ll go through Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, and Benin before arriving in Lagos.
What is the duration of the trip?
The trip will begin on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, and be completed at the end of March.
Preparations, Funding – Pelumi Nubi speaks
The 29-year-old traveler described the adventure budget as ‘a big investment after a year of planning and saving’.
During her podcast interview, Nubi revealed that the entire trip will cost $15,000 – $20,000, covering fuel, accommodation, and other essential needs.
On her mental preparation, she said, “Truthfully , you’re never 100% ready for something this massive. My approach? Set a date, and just go for it. Some days I am filled with so much excitement other days not so much!”
