A NON-GOVERNMENTAL Organisation, NGO, Double Diamond Global Platform, urged Nigerians to build a peaceful and united country, saying no meaningful development can take place without unity and cohesion.

It also bemoaned the current security challenges faced in parts of Nigeria, calling on the Federal Government to find a lasting solution to the various crisis.

Its founder, Dr. Obed Ezeonye, briefing journalists on the forthcoming Double Diamond Award of Excellence and anniversary of the NGO scheduled for Thursday, at Excellence Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos with the theme: ‘Nigeria Unity and Nation Building’ he said: “The present state of the nation, a very sensitive one and something need to be done urgently. And that is why Double Diamond thought about this year theme.

“Those in authority and Nigerians at large should know that Nigerian unity is very important and necessary. We can use our diversity to achieve a lot and we have experienced this in the past.

“To break away is not the best but using our differences to achieve something better. The needs for unity is very important to us in Nigeria.

“The Government should also call for dialogue and listen to the yearnings of those agitators,” he said.

On the award programme, Ezeonye said it is meant to recognize, celebrate and promote excellence among individual Nigerians, who have contributed to the growth and development of Nigeria.

The awardees include: Hon. Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, Rev Tunde Bolanta, among others.
