A Makurdi High Court presided over by Justice Theresa Igoche, yesterday, fixed August 15 to rule on an application seeking an extension of the interim order restraining the impeached Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Terkimbi Ikyange, and two others from parading themselves as principal officers of the House.
At the commencement of hearing on the matter, counsel to the trio, Mamman Osuman, brought before the court a motion of preliminary objection challenging the jurisdiction of the court to entertain the suit.
On his part, counsel to Governor Samuel Ortom and 24 others, Sebastine Hon, argued that he was served the notice of the preliminary objections the previous day arguing that “we should be allowed time to respond appropriately.”
In her ruling, Justice Igoche agreed Mr. Hon and adjourned the case to August 15.
