ABEOKUTA—THERE was wild jubilation in some parts of Ogun State following a public declaration by the lawmaker representing Lagos West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly called Yayi and a two-time governorship candidate, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, popularly called GNI to work together ahead of 2019 governorship election.
Adeola, who is vying for governorship seat in the state on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, and Isiaka, perceived to be on his way out of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, told the elders in Ogun west and other senatorial districts that they were ready to work together to ensure Ogun West produces the next governor in the state.

They spoke at Ogun West Political dialogue organised by joint Ogun west leaders forum held at Ilaroin Yewa North local government area of the state.
They declared their readiness to sacrifice individual interests for the collective good of Ogun West Senatorial District in the bid to produce successor of Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
The two aspirants spoke at the Ogun West Political Dialogue held in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area to chart the political future of Yewa-Awori people in the politics of the state.
The event, which was organised by the Joint Ogun West Leaders Forum, was attended by prominent sons and daughters of Ogun West zone who belong to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC; People’s Democratic Party, PDP; Alliance for Democracy, AD; Accord Party, Social Democratic Party, SDP; Labour Party, LP and Action Democratic Party, ADP.
Adeola said: “This time, it is Ogun West for governor. If I am the sacrificial lamb, I don’t care. We must come with an open mind because Yewa-Awori project is beyond any of us here. If we resolve to depend on God, we must tow the path of God and not that of man.
“We thank our former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and former governors Olusegun Osoba and Gbenga Daniel as well as the incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, for supporting Yewa-Awori for governor. But we want to appeal: don’t force anything down our throat.
“Let the leaders, elders and paramount ruler of Yewa land and the stakeholders decide for us. Those professing their love for Ogun West should allow Ogun West to produce their candidate and this time, we are ready to do it ourselves.”
Speaking earlier, Isiaka urged people of Ogun West not to be distracted by extraneous influences in the bid to realise the governorship.
He said: “This time, we are determined and there is no amount of threat that can distract us. Our leaders and elders have been in this struggle for long but it is not over until it is over.
“If there is something left that we have not done, you just have to support us towards realising this project. We all need our best materials wherever they are.”
