In Delta State, donkey hides are shipped to China, where they are boiled down and used as the gelatin or ass-hide glue.

According to Wikipedia gelatin or Ejiao is obtained from the skin of the donkey by soaking and stewing. It is used as an ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine and is sold in a market thought to worth hundreds of millions of dollars every year
