COMMAND Day Secondary School, Ikeja Cantonment, Lagos State, last week, engaged their teaching and non-teaching staff, students and the new intakes on a refresher conference.

Tagged ‘A Time of Refreshing, the conference was chaired by the school’s Commandant, Lt. Col. M.A Abdullahi, and had in attendance the Vice Principal (Admin), Mrs. Efenam Ogbechie, and all teaching and non-teaching staff. Among topics addressed were behavioral management and emotional intelligence by Mrs. Ariyo, on what students should know and do to maintain a healthy environment by Mrs. Bamiro and dress code by Mrs. V. E. Ogbechie.

Mrs. Ogbechie, who tackled the challenges of dress code in schools addressed the core issues, presented by Mrs. Nwosu about need for teachers to show examples to students on best way to appear in school which as well reflects the society around them. Dress code, according to her is specified by the type of clothing to be worn by people under specific circumstances, an acceptable dress code within an environment and the best way to use it without adulterating it.

She noted that often times, teachers are the worst culprit of wrong dressing and students tend to copy from what they see from them. She, however, advised teachers and parents and students to adhere to school set rules on mode of dressing.

The Commandant commended the loyalty of the teachers and charged them to remain same to represent what the school stands for which is “Discipline and knowledge.” He also charged the students, especially the new intakes, to adapt to the rules of the school and be of good behaviour all time.
