Police arrest mother, son over alleged murder of sibling

ENUGU—A man, identified as Romanus Asogwa, on Monday, allegedly killed his blood brother, Fidelis Asogwa, at Ohodo community in Igboetiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, with a plank, following a misunderstanding over a piece of land.

The misunderstanding was said to have ensued between the deceased and the suspect in a family meeting convened by their mother, Mrs. Theresa Asogwa, who was said to have invited the deceased for the meeting.

It was further gathered that the misunderstanding was because of a piece of land with economic trees therein.

It was further gathered that in the course of the quarrel, Romanus hit Fidelis on his head with a plank, which left him unconscious and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, said the suspect, Romanus and their mother have been arrested and are helping the Police’s investigations.

Amaraizu further disclosed that the body has been deposited at a mortuary in the community.

The police have also confirmed the killing of two farmers at Adaba in Uzo Uwani Local Government Area of the state by some herdsmen.

Amaraizu, who made this known, stated that “the state Police Command had commenced full scale investigations into the alleged murder of two persons at Adaba in Uzo Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State.

“The alleged incident was said to have occurred on Monday, July 17, at Adaba community, where the two corpses were dumped at the roadside by yet to be known persons.”
