Two notorious kidnap suspects have been arrested by police in Enugu State for their alleged involvement in a kidnap case during which one of the victims was killed.
The state’s police spokesperson, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, in a statement yesterday in Enugu, said that the suspects were arrested on February 24, after they were trailed to Asaba, Delta State.
It was gathered that the suspects, alongside their fleeing colleagues, have been thorns in the flesh of motorists that operate along Obioma-Udi axis of the 9th Mile-Oji-River Old Road, Ugwuogo-Nike/Opi Nsukka Road and Awkunanaw axis of the Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway.
Amaraizu said: “The suspects were involved in the alleged kidnap/murder of one Ifeanyi Alakwe on February 2, along Awgu area of Enugu Port Harcourt Expressway.
“They were also involved in the kidnapping of one Chimezie Eze, a musician, at a wake in Nsude, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State and the recent kidnapping of two staff of Enugu State Water Corporation at Ajali-Owa Water Scheme on January 10.”
The state Commissioner of Police, Danmallam Mohammed, applauded his men and maintained that the state command, under his watch, will continue to partner with the public, sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders in the state.
