DUTSE—Jigawa State Police Command has arrested six suspected rapists, three kidnappers and 20 others for committing various offences in the state.

One Abdullahamid Abdullahi of Alwari village of Kirikasamm Local Government Area, was arrested by the command for allegedly axing his biological father to death.

The state’s Police Commissioner, Mr. Rasheed Akintunde, revealed this while briefing newsmen on the achievement recorded by the command in the last two months.

He said that the suspected rapists were mostly arrested after defiling minors, the act he described as unwholesome and disheartening.

He added that 15 persons were arrested in Bamaina town on illegal possession of locally-made pistol and other dangerous weapons.

The CP added that the three arrested suspected kidnappers are among those terrorising people at Gwaram axis of the state, and one of them was involved in the kidnap of two village heads in the area.

According to Akintunde, four suspected armed robbers were arrested in connection with robbery at different areas and for illegal possession of firearms.

His words: “All of them were charged to court, while effort has been intensified to arrest those on the run in connection with the said arrest.”

The Commissioner also commended the efforts of his officers, who he said are the pivot of all the success recorded.

He addeed that “without their hard work, we could not have achieved what I have presented to you.”
