The Federal Government has said that the need to diversify and restructure the economy has never been more crucial and is a tough but necessary period to achieve the desired structural changes needed for growth, inclusive prosperity and sustainable development.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Industry, Trade & Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, disclosed this at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry/Financial Derivatives Company Public Private Dialogue on Port Efficiency & Maritime Sector Roadmap.
She added that to achieve the country’s diversification objectives, it was imperative that we improve the administration of our ports, which serve as the point of entry of much-needed raw materials and machineries for any industrialisation efforts, as well as points of exit for the exportation of manufactured goods and agricultural produce.
Oduwole said: “The administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is focusing on policies and reform efforts geared at promoting diversification and structural reform.
“A successful execution of these policies is expected to result in, among others, enhanced productivity.”
