Authorities of the Nigerian Army Monday night dispelled rumours of a bomb blast in Maiduguri which reportedly led to panic and pandemonium.
Rather the army said troops were carrying out test firing of some newly acquired weaponry hence the loud sounds that were heard.
Confirming that there were no bombings, Col. Mustapha, spokesman for 7 Division of Nigeria Army said, “explosion in Maiduguri emanated from “test firing” of weapons.”
