UGHELLI— COUNCILLORS in Delta State under the aegis of Delta State Serving Councillors Network, have cried out over their unpaid 10-month salary owed them by the state government.
Making the appeal, Thursday at Ughelli, leader of the group, appealed to the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to use part of the recently approved N14.16 billion Federal Government facility to clear the 10-months salary backlog owned council workers in the state.
The group stressed that, since the loan was aimed at ameliorating financial challenge of the state, the local governments should be seriously considered.
The group explained that, during the process of approval, “the state House of Assembly had stated that the facility was to enable the state government bridge some critical funding gaps in connection with the financing of infrastructural development projects.”
