ENUGU—As part of efforts to forestall a repeat of the Fulani herdsmen invasion of Nimbo community, in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State that led to the slaughter of about 46 natives, Enugu Police Command has commenced  routine aerial surveillance of the three senatorial zones of Enugu North, Enugu West and Enugu East.

The newly-posted Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ojukwu, made the revelation in a statement to newsmen yesterday, adding that the aerial surveillance will be sustained to proactively fish out would-be mischief-makers in the society.

A statement made available to newsmen by the Police Public Relations Officers, DSP Ebere Amaraizu, said: ”We have as part of measures to ensure that the entire Enugu State and its environs are made safe and secured.

“The state command through the Airwing of the Nigeria Police Force, have begun an aerial surveillance of the three senatorial zones of the state.

“This exercise will offer us a platform to fish out would-be mischief- makers, have proper sight of all the nooks and crannies of the state for effective crime prevention and control.

“We advise members of the public not to entertain fear or panic as the helicopter patrols their areas.”
