UYO—No fewer than 44 persons have been arrested and convicted by the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, within the year for violating various traffic regulations in Akwa Ibom State.

State Sector Commander of the corps, Mrs. Cecilia Alao, made this disclosure in an interview with newsmen on the activities of the agency in Uyo, yesterday.

She said that out of the number prosecuted, 43 were convicted for various traffic offences and given options of fines while one was discharged and acquitted.

According to Alao, those convicted through the Corps’ mobile court were made to pay fines ranging from N5, 000 to N20, 000 depending on their offences.
