By Demola Akinyemi

The new coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress(OPC)in Kwara State, Comrade Oladipo Ganiyu Olayinka, says he has come to improve the lot of members in the state even as he commended the anti -corruption efforts of President Muhamadu Buhari.

Speaking with Sunday Vanguard after an emergency meeting of the congress in Ilorin, the state capital, the OPC coordinator also commended Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for what he described as his good management of the economy of Kwara despite the meager resources at the disposal of the state government.

He further commended   the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Zukaniani Gambari, for his fatherly role to the people of Ilorin and environs, saying the monarch has been adding value to the harmony and tranquility in Ilorin and the state in general.

Olayinka explained   that he has come to shape up the OPC so that the congress can fulfil its obligation to the sons and daughters of Oduduwa across the globe.

Corroborating his views, Comrade Abdulkareem Eleji,  spokesman for the Kwara Chapter of the congress, said  the emergence of Olayinka was a function of the gods,   meaning that he was ordained from heaven to come and reshape Kwara OPC for better performance as a pan Yoruba socio-cultural organization.

The coordinator also said that all members of OPC worldwide have come together as one and that it’s only in unity would any organization make progress.

Olayinka eulogized the visionary steps of Otunba Gani Adams whom he said had taken the congress beyond expectation especially with the various innovative steps and programmes added to the congress on daily basis.

His words, “I want to specially commend Otunba Gani Adams for his vision and courage, in leading the OPC world wide. He has helped to disabuse the minds of all Nigerians about OPC and introduced several cultural and traditional issues into the congress in a way that all Yoruba children now have an opportunity of knowing their culture better. It is in the line of this that I will work to uplift his pioneering efforts and prove the confidence he reposed in me to have appointed me as the state coordinator.”

The former coordinator of the OPC in the state, Moruf Olanrewaju, was removed by Adams as a routine operation of the congress.

Olayinka and Eleji, reported to be foundation members of the OPC, were brought on board as a result of reorganization.
