THE Nigerian Society for the Blind, NSB has said the Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung will grace its 21st annual inter-house sports, on March 17, 2016, at Yaba College of Technology.

Former Chairman, Executive Council, NSB, Chief Olu Falomo in company of the Chairman inter-house sports committee, Major Kehinde Danmola and other stakeholders of the society; said that the presence of the Minister would be a boost to the society and raise the spirit of the blind students. His words,” The Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung is the special guest of this year’s event as we are renewing our contacts with the Federal Government to see what the virtually impaired persons have to offer.”

Speaking on some of the activities to be displayed by the Vocational Training Centre students that  included: March past, 50m race( male/female), 3 legged race, walking race, shot put, old students race, parents/guardians’ races etc., Major Danmola said sports activities are major boost to the confidence of the virtually impaired persons.

His words, “Sporting activities serve as avenue for the blind to do something more than the restricted mobility of the loss of sight has caused.”

However, the inter-house sports committee chairman called on individuals and corporate organisations to sponsor promising students both locally and internationally, as the virtually impaired persons have lots to offer the country in the area of sports.

“ The feats of our Para Olympians at the London games last time have proved that Nigeria has a warehouse of talents in our physically challenged people. It is high time we tap and harness these talents,” he said.

Also, Chief Falomo used the occasion to call for sponsors of the centre  and  in addition, thanked  past and present sponsors of the society such as the former Lagos state governor, Babatunde Fashola, SAN, the present governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, Rector of Yabatech, Verdanzeal Marketing Communication, MTN, and others; for their contributions in various capacity.
