COACH Manu Garba will not head the Nigeria U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets, after he initially rejected the post.
And his rejection has meant it will most likely be an entirely new coaching crew to now lead the world champions.
It was specially gathered that this week Manu rejected the Eaglets post when he was offered it by the technical committee, who argued he could again repeat the magic of 2013 when the team won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in style in Abu Dhabi.
Manu will later get back to the technical committee to say he has consulted his assistants and he was ready to return to the trenches with the Eaglets.
However, by the time the coach rescinded his decision, the NFF had already contacted other coaches to take up the posts.
“Manu will not be the coach of the Golden Eaglets after he first turned down the job. He later had a rethink, but by then it was too late as other coaches had been contacted for the same position,” a top NFF official disclosed.
