Auditor General seeks passage of audit law to fight corruption

The Auditor General of the Federation, Mr. Samuel Ukura has called for an amendment of the constitution to pave way for passing into law, the audit bill, noting that the existing audit law is obsolete having been passed over 55 years ago. Mr. Ukura, who made this known at a two-day retreat between the Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly and the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation, AGF, in Abuja, said the new audit law would further empower the office to discharge its mandate effectively.
