Bayelsa guber polls: Police restrict movement

In furtherance of strategies designed to prevent electoral fraud and violence, for a hitch-free governorship election in Bayelsa State, and supplementary election in Kogi State billed to take place today, the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has ordered restriction of movements within the boundaries of Bayelsa State with effect from 6.00am to 6.00pm on Saturday, 5th December, 2015.

On Kogi State supplementary election, the IGP  also directed intra-city restriction of vehicular movement in areas where supplementary election will be conducted, from 6.00am to 6.00pm today.

A statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Acting ACP Olabisi Kolawole, noted that , “However, persons on essential duties such as ambulance service providers, INEC officials on-duty, security men, accredited election monitors/observers, accredited journalists, are not affected by this order”.
