Bauchi—The First Lady of Bauchi State, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar, has called on women not to pay lip service to the change agenda of All Progressives Congress, APC, but to ensure that the change emanates from within to ensure meaningful development in the state.
Hajiya Abubakar gave the charge when she received a delegation of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Executives and Elders Committee led by the Bauchi State Chairperson, Dr Kaltume Shall to Government House, yesterday.
The state First Lady who was appointed the Grand Patron of NAWOJ in the state also called on women to make sacrifices for the development of state because according to her, no society can experience change without sacrifice by the people.
She expressed her passion to alleviate the sufferings of women by training them in different empowerment programmes.
“I want to commend women journalists in the state for this august visit because it is very timely. One of my visions for this state is to improve the lives of women and children and I am appealing to NAWOJ to ensure that it creates awareness on the plights of women in the state.
“I will engage our women in different skill acquisition programmes to better their lives and also work on maternal and infant health to ensure our women enjoys good medical services,” she said.
Speaking earlier, the state Chairperson of NAWOJ, Dr Shall commended the First Lady for putting women in the front burner of her vision for the state.
Enumerating the achievements of NAWOJ, Shall said that the association has embarked on training and re-training of women in the state.
