AHEAD of the general elections, a Socio-Political group, G18 initiative, Nigeria have cautioned the Independent Electoral Commission INEC not to allow the flaws in the usage of the Card Reader gadgets constitute huge liability to the entire electoral process.

Its national coordinator Prince Biyi Poroye said in Akure that the timing of the usage of the Card Reader was wrong and voters are not well educated

“ The recent field test of the device showed that it will take about one hour to attend to 60 voters, this certainly will disenfranchise so many voters

The group said that although the introduction of the gadget is done in good intention to minimise the flaws that characterised past elections but the timing is wrong

Speaking on deployment of soldiers to monitor election, the group said that the nations democracy should be run in line with our peculiarities and challenges.

“ We support the idea of deployment of soldiers during elections to provide security within and around the states of the federation.

The group kicked against the spate of growth in tension and unwarranted broadsides that characterised the campaigns describing it as dangerous to the nations democracy

It appealed to the parties to “ think of the tortuous road that the nation went through to berth this democracy.

The group said it support an indivisible Nigeria under the leadership of President Jonathan and committed to his transformation agenda. “ We are also of the belief that the PDP has stabilised democracy in Nigeria and that it is the only party that holds the assurance of its continuity and unity of Nigeria.

Poroye said the group has donated 20 high quality Megaphones each to the PDP states in the South West to assist in the campaign for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.
