No fewer than 100 hypertensive patients have received free diagnosis and hypertension treatment under the Neimeth International Pharmaceutical “Fight the Good Fight Against Hypertension, FITGAH, national initiative.

Launched in 2013 as a direct intervention programme which applies a 4-A principles of Awareness, Availability, Affordability and Action, it is designed to reduce death and debilitation of hypertension in Nigeria through partnership with private and public hospitals.

Speaking during a free diagnosis event held in partnership with Shefi Hospitals Limited, Egbeda Lagos, Managing Director, Neimeth, Emmanuel Ekunno said, the partnership was aimed at “bringing relief to persons unable to afford the high cost of anti-hypertension medicines.

Ekunno who was represented by Mr. Nwaka Okoro Eni, Head, Corporate Affairs and General Services, affirmed that the free diagnosis and treatment programme will run every Thursday at Shefi Hospitals for two months offering routine medical checkups.

The FITGAH adopts a multiphase approach as, mass screening and free provision of starter drugs, 50 percent voluntary reduction of prices of Neimeth anti-hypertensives for registered recipients in any hospital or pharmacy in partnership with the pharmaceutical company, amongst others.
