Lawyer condemns abduction of Ex-NBA President

Port Harcourt – Mr Aroha Ahmed, a Port Harcourt lawyer has condemned the abduction of Mr Okey Wali, former National President of the Nigerian  Bar Association (NBA).

Wali was kidnapped on Saturday in Port Harcourt.

Ahmed said that it was unfortunate that the former NBA national president was abducted in a broad day light.

He said all the law enforcement agencies should take appropriate measures to ensure that he was released unharmed as quickly as possible.

‘’All concerned law enforcement agencies should take steps to make sure that he is released as quickly as possible in safety without any hurt done to him,’’ he said.

The lawyer urged Nigerians to cooperate and fight the insecurity in the country, saying ‘’it does not help us and it is not good for our development and advancement of the country’’.

Ahmed advised Nigerians to remain vigilant and take any suspicious movements around them seriously.

‘’My advice to Nigerians is that, everybody should be security-conscious; security is every person’s business and not only law enforcement agencies.

“We should be conscious of our security, and ensure that we look around ourselves and be suspicious of every person around us.

‘’When you see strange fellows trailing you or strange things (happenings), you should not hesitate to let the appropriate authority to know about it.

‘’We have the civic responsibility to be watchful and avoid being caught in cross fire,’’ Ahmed said.
