ABEOKUTA—The Labour Party in Ogun State has begun a move to harmonise the state executive of the party as part of efforts to ensure lasting peace in the party, even as it is making moves to discontinue the suit before a Federal High Court in Lagos, challenging the authority of Daniel in the party.

The party had been enmeshed in leadership crisis between former governor Gbenga Daniel and Olabode Simeon-led executive, polarising the party into two factions.

According to a statement jointly signed by the state Secretary,  Sunday Ogini and state financial Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, the national leadership of the  party had commenced the move to harmonise the two factional executives.

The statement read in part: “The harmonisation of the state executive would be done at the coming state  congresses through affirmation. In a bid to end the crisis, Ondo State governor, our leader, Dr, Olusegun Mimiko, the national Chairman of the party, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu among other members of the national executive have ordered   the suit filed against ex-governor   Daniel should be withdrawn.

“The party has officially written the lawyer, Oluyede Delano to hand off from the case and we have notified the Federal High Court in Lagos through an affidavit of our desire to discontinue from the suit. Our leaders have also directed that both factions to harmonise their  executive to make the party in the state more formidable.”

The leadership of former governor Gbenga Daniel is hereby affirmed  and that the status quo ante in respect   of Ogun   State Labour Party   executive   positions at all levels in the state remain sacrosanct pending   ongoing harmonisation which would culminate to congresses of   affirmation in due course.
