LAGOS— Two drunkards, Anayochi Nwagwu, 25 and Chinazo Nzeku, 22, who stabbed one Peter Idoko on his right hand with a broken bottle, were yesterday arraigned before an Ikeja magistrate’s court.
The defendants, who were docked before Magistrate Abimbola Komolafe, are facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, assault, breach of peace and stealing, preferred against them by the police.
The prosecutor, ASP Eranus Nnamonu, said the defendants and others at large committed the offences on May 11, 2014, at about 8 p.m.
He said the incident took place at 29, Moyoagoro Street in Ogba area of Lagos State.
Nnamonu said the defendants used a broken bottle to stabbed one Peter Idoko on his right hand at Carol Inn Hotel in Ogba.
He also claimed that they damaged some plastic chairs, 50 litres of diesel and a stove worth N50,000, all property of Carol Inn Hotel.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 409 and 171 and punishable under Sections 166 (1) and 348 (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
Earlier, the defendants had pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
The magistrate granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two responsible sureties each in like sum.
She adjourned the case till June 26 for mention.
