Nigeria’s under-20 male football team, the Flying Eagles, will on April 9 and April 11 engage their Moroccan counterparts in a two-legged friendly in Casablanca, an official said on Monday.

According to a statement by the team’s Media Officer, Samm Audu, the team would depart the country for Morocco with a 20-man squad for the friendly.

The team have already regrouped in Abuja preparatory to a 2015 African Youth Championship (AYC) qualifier in May.

This resumption followed a short break given to the players after a month-long rigorous screening exercise in Abuja.

The statement said team head coach Manu Garba had called up 35 players for the exercise.

It said seven other players, who are based overseas, were also expected to join the squad this week.

“The team’s Secretary, Aliyu Ibrahim, said letters to their various foreign clubs have been sent out to that effect,” the statement said.

Nigeria, who are six-times winners of the continental competition, are billed to face the winners of the qualifying fixture between Kenya and Tanzania next month.

The fixture is in continuation of the qualifying tournament to be hosted by Senegal in March 2015.(NAN)
