Lagos hoists flags at half mast for Akhigbe

Lagos — Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State commiserated with the family of the late ex-Chief of Naval Staff and former Governor of the state, Admiral Mike Okhai Akhigbe (rtd.) who died Monday, October 28, 2013 in New York, describing his death as shocking and very unfortunate.

The governor directed that as a mark of honour for the departed soul, all flags in the state be hoisted at half mast for seven days.

A statement by the Head of Service, Mrs. Josephine Williams, Fashola, described late Mike Akhigbe as a Military Administrator (1986-1988) who served the state and the people with merit and distinction and toiled with others in government to lay a solid foundation which successive administrations built upon for a greater Lagos State and indeed Nigeria.
