LAGOS — Lagos State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has described the Acting National Publicity Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Tony Okeke, as an “upstart desperate to impress his principals on his suitability for the job of image maker of a failed party.”

The APC’s response followed an earlier depiction by Mr. Okeke of Lagos State governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, as a dictator, on account of the recent deportation of 14 alleged destitute persons to Anambra State.

Lagos APC, in a statement by its Interim Publicity Secretary, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, the party said that having failed woefully in 14 years of regressive politics, the PDP, crumbling from its own failures, was now clutching on any imaginable straw to survive.

The APC wondered why a party that had allegedly stolen hundreds of trillions of Naira while promoting destitution, poverty and want in Nigeria, was so shameless to take advantage of the victims of its own corrupt governance to gain political favour.

The statement said: “We ask the Acting PDP Publicity Secretary to help resolve the issues raised by the full disclosure by the Lagos State government on the resettlement issue, which bordered on communications between the Lagos and Anambra State governments on the 14 destitute prior to their resettlement. Does he think he can walk away with trading in the cheap banalities offered by those that initially tried to benefit from the issue but who have gone into deep silence since the Lagos State government released details of its efforts to get the destitute properly reintegrated with their people?
