Strike: IMSG sledge hammer dangles on workers


OWERRI — Imo State Government has warned that any public servant that proceeds on strike as directed by labour leaders in the state to regard himself/herself as having voluntarily retired.

The state Head of Service, Mrs. Nkechi Onumajulu, in a statement in reaction  to the planned indefinite industrial action called by the Joint Negotiating Council, said  “Any public servant(s), who absents himself or herself from work on grounds of the purported strike, would be deemed to (have) voluntarily retired and government will not hesitate in computing his or her retirement benefits.”

Meanwhile, Secretary to the Government of Imo State,  Prof. Anthony Anwuka, in a statement, said  a  committee will be instituted to investigate the case of financial impropriety against  the JNC.

The state government,  warned that gatherings or rallies carried out under the auspices of the JNC “are now illegal and will be so treated.
