Chairman of the League Management Company, Honourable Nduka Irabor has said that the alarm being raised by Sharks Football Club of Port Harcourt over the security situation in Maiduguri was unfounded.
Speaking with Sports Vanguard Tuesday, Honourable Irabor said that he had been in touch with the Sharks management and had told them that they had no excuse not to honour the mid-week fixture.
“It was in Maiduguri that Sunshine Stars played with El Kanemi and lost 1-0. Only last weekend, Shooting Stars of Ibadan (3SC) drew 0-0 with El Kanemi in the same Maiduguri.
So, Sharks have no reason not to go to Maiduguri. We are not going to be stampeded into making irrational decisions and reversals”. Irabor insisted.
He however said that they were in constant touch with Sharks and were not insensitive to allow them to go to a place that was not safe “We hear they have relaxed the curfew and there is no cause for alarm”, the Duke emphasised.
