As part of measures to reduce the perennial flooding in the Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Chairman of the council, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan, has directed 57 community development associations, CDAs, who were yet to ultise the desilting grants of their drainages to comply within the next 24 hours or face necessary sanction.

Only 12 CDAs have so far complied with the desilting order by the council chairman, while the remaining 57 have been urged to follow suit soon.

Bamigbetan, however, commended Igala community Development Association  in Oke Afa Low Cost Housing Estate for properly desilting their drainage.

He gave the commendation while inspecting various CDAs in the LCDA to know the level of work done after the recent handing over of desilting grants extended to all the 69 CDAs in the council area.

Commending the chairman of Igala CDA, Alhaji Tajudeen Ogunbanke, the council boss said the CDA had shown commendable degree of seriousness in assisting the local council to deflood the community.

Thanking the council chairman for extending the grant, Alhaji Tajudeen said the CDA did not bother to mobilize the youth but instead engaged the services of some workers for a fee.

Tajudeen said the grant was not enough but added that members saw it as a challenge to contribute their quota in deflooding the area.

At Agbajo CDA, the chairman urged the CDA executive to mobilise the youth groups and shop owners to desilt the community gutters and ensure the free flow of the drainages in earnest.

At NEPA junction in Agbajo, Mr. Bamigbetan advised the CDA chairman, Chief Micheal Akinto, to check the excesses of shops owners on the drainage lip.

At Junction CDA in Oke Afa, the CDA chairman, Pastor Biodun Idris, was directed by Mr. Bamigbetan to monitor the desilting as the auto mechanics along the fence of Estate Primary School  did not participate in the exercise.
