ABEOKUTA – Road accidents in three different parts of Ogun state yesterday, claimed four lives and left no fewer than seven others critically injured.

The accidents occurred almost simultaneously in Ijebu-Ode,  Ijebu-East and Odogbolu Local Government Areas of the state.

Confirming the incidents to Vanguard, the Ijebu-Ode unit commander of Traffic Compliance Agency Corps, TRACE, Adekunle Ajibade, said the first accident which occurred at Yakoyo on Ondo-Benin Road in Ijebu-East claimed four lives after a head-on collision between a Volvo Truck marked Lagos XZ 185AGL and a Benz truck marked Lagos XC 228 AKD.

The second accident, which involved a loaded tanker marked Lagos XH 993 USL and a Mercedes Benz car with registration number Lagos BD 658 GGE, occurred at Mobalufon in Ijebu-Ode, and left three persons injured.

The third accident occurred also on the Ondo-Benin road but in Odogbolu local Government area of the state, leaving four others seriously injured.

According to Alidade, all the injured had been taken to emergency ward of Ijebu-Ode hospital for treatment.

He said the third accident that occurred at the Odogbolu Local Government end of the Ondo- Benin road was caused by armed robbers where two unidentified cars had a head-on collision  in their bid to escape the robbery

He blamed the other two accidents on the recklessness of the drivers, saying failure to abide by the traffic rules led to the loss of lives.
