Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr. Ola Makinde, has called on all ethnic groups in the country to embrace National Conference describing it as imperative for Nigerians to live in peace and harmony.

Makinde made this call yesterday at the 3rd Annual Synod of Diocese of Lagos Central hosted by Apapa Araromi Circuit with the theme, “Behold, I will do a new thing”

The Prelate who said he strongly believed in the National Conference said to curb the various ugly incidents that are happening in the country there is urgent need for a national conference of all the ethnic groups in Nigeria.”

The Prelate added that National Assembly is only postponing evil days by rejecting the call for National Conference.
In his words “I stand on the National Conference, Nigerians especially the senate are only postponing evil days by rejecting the call for this conference. Nigeria is a country with lots of ethnic groups and members of National Assembly are not representing all these ethnic groups and if they reject this let us return to true federalism.”

Makinde also urged both Christians and Muslims in the country to fear God and see religion as a tool of peace, love, unity, sanctity of life and tool of salvation.

“Religious bodies in the country should serve God with all sincerity and fear God, the problem we are having in Nigeria today is because people don’t have fear of God and that is why we are having murder, corruption and all sorts of evils in the society. Nigerians should return to God if we want Him to intervene in our situation.”
