Hope for less privileged musicians

By Bose Adelaja

There is hope at last for less privileged Nigerian singers who are talented but have no one to help them achieve their dreams.

This indication was given by a young talented Nigerian and graduate of Mathematics Akinyele Olubodun. The graduate of University of Lagos who beat 300 participants at the United Nations International Multimedia award called ‘’World summit Youth Award 2011’’ in Graz, Austria because of his wide experience in Industrial Technology has decided to reach out to other talented less privileged young artistes.

The young man designed a website on music platform called ‘’Playmyjamz’’ and has created a forum for
these young and expectant genius who are yet to be discovered.

With a pledge to package and placed them online and apart from granting them interviews in a monthly magazine and on radio,.Akinyele said the idea was about job creation for Nigerian youths.

‘’Playmyjamz will afford less privileged musicians to create a profile and to release their songs online for download. So far, more than 200 musicians have registered.

In contrast to the music online platform, ‘’Myspace’’  Playmyjamz, users can rate the tracks and nominate their favourites. The most popular artists gain an international fan base and grant interviews in a monthly magazine and on radio,’’ he said.
