Devt council empowers Ijaw youths

WARRI—Egbema/Gbaramatu Central Development Council, EGCDC, a community-based developmental organisation initiated by Chevron Nigeria Limited and Delta State Government to interface between oil and gas-bearing communities of Egbema and Gbaramatu Kingdoms, has donated sewing machines worth N6 million to fashion and designs trainees in Warri.

Chairman of EGCDC, Mr. Edmund Doyah-Tiemo, in a statement, said the 21 trainees were among beneficiaries of skill acquisition programmes organised by the Council for Ijaw youths.

He said: “In August, 20 youths completed their training from the Nigerian Metallurgical Training Institute, Onitsha, Anambra State in electrical, electronics, mechanical, automobile and heavy duty machines. They got support from EGCDC.”

At the handing-over ceremony, Doyah-Tiemo advised the trainees to be good ambassadors of their communities and commended the trainees for their perseverance and commitment to their training.

He implored the trainees to make good use of the machines and efficiently utilise the skills they gained at the training.
