OWERRI- Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, suffered a major setback in Imo State, Tuesday, following the resignation of one of its chieftains and financier, Okenze Sylvester Obinna, from the party.
Obinna’s letter dated September 13, and addressed to the leadership of ACN, did not give reason for his action.
Part of the letter read: “May I, with utmost humility, convey to you, my resignation of membership of your great party, Action Congress of Nigeria, with effect from the date of this letter.”
Obinna, who was an ally of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, also commended the party’s leadership for giving him the opportunity to serve in various capacities while in their fold.
When contacted, the State Secretary of ACN, Mr. Christian Oguoma, comfirmed receipt of the letter, and said the party had accepted Obinna’s resignation and wished him well in his future endeavour.
