The Suzuki Sx4 sedan may look simple in design but the unique attributes of the Sx4 stands it out in its class. For instance, the Sx4 is one of the few car models that is produced only in Japan. This means that Suzuki applies the strict Japanese standard in producing the Suzuki Sx4. As a result, the Suzuki Sx4 has a very long life span when compared to its competitors.
Unlike competing models that are produced in other countries and continents, the Suzuki Sx4 has a seven years warranty against rust. This is something that other cars in the Sx4 category hardly enjoy. But despite this, the Sx4 is competitively priced when compared with cars in its category.
Disclosing this to the Motoring press in his Lagos office recently, the managing director of C&I Motors, distributors of the Suzuki brand in Nigeria, Mr. Vikram Mehtani, said that this has been the secret behind the Sx4 and other Suzuki models longevity and reliability over the years.
The Sx4 is powered by a 1.6 litre petrol engine, which Mehtani described as very powerful and fuel efficient. The Sx4 is available in both manual and automatic transmissions. The manual transmission is five speed while the automatic is four speed.
He noted that it has been observed that private buyers go for the four-speed automatic transmission for convenience while fleet buyers like companies buy the manual transmission. The whole idea of making the different transmission available was aimed at satisfying the customers different needs.
With price starting from N3.4 million, the managing director said that the Sx4 has been benchmarked with mainly Japanese models like Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic Nissan Tiida and Mitsubishi Lancer but noted that the Sx4 has a price advantage over the competitors. “It is loaded with mouth watering features that comes as options in competing models, he stated.”
“It is very rugged, the quality is top-class, suspension is very strong and the engine is very fuel efficient, yet the Suzuki Sx4 is competitively priced,” he said. Mehtani further revealed that you hardly could hear noise from the Sx4 engine even after using it for many years because it is built tough.
Apart from its sophistication and high quality, Mehtani said that owner of the Sx4 saves a lot when it comes to maintenance. For instance, he said while other cars go for routine service after 5000 kilometres, the Sx4 user only visit the workshop after 7,500 thereby saving money and time for the owner.
The Sx4 owes it good ride to its powerful engine, transmission and McPherson strut in front and torsion beam at the rear. Braking is shorter and precised because of sventilated discs in front leading and trailing at the rear.
The interior of the Sx4 is very modern and well packaged with quality materials that you expect from a typical Japanese made car. There are lot of features like air-conditioning system, power windows and power steering, keyless entry, quality sound system (CD play) etc.
The Sx4 is rated five star in terms of safety with ABS, EDB, air bags, and other safety features. The Sx4 is also available in hatchback and 2.0 litre engine, but the C&I boss said the 2.0 engine version is not a Nigerian specification.
