Professor I. B. Umoh, a Fellow of the Nigeria Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, FNSBMB, is dead, aged 66.

Prof. Umoh, a pioneer Commissioner of Agriculture in Akwa Ibom State under the  Col. Tunde Ogbeha and Col. Godwin Abbe administrations (1988 – 90), was before his death, the Pro – Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Obong University, Akwa Ibom State.

A statement by the family said Umoh will be buried on Friday, June 17, 2011, at his home town, Ikot Akpa Idem, Ukanafun LGA, of Akwa Ibom State. He is survived by his widow, Mrs Grace Umoh, six children and a host of other relations.
